The BIG Acorn - Business Coaching and Mentoring

Our Approach

'Happiness is the new bottom line' Laura Berman Fortgang, USA Today

We have used our years of experience and learning to develop the Transformational Coaching Model©

Outcomes of the transformation coaching journey in a nutshell:

For the individual: A motivated, highly effective individual, aligned with the organisation's goals, with a vision of their ideal future and a clear route to its achievment.

For the organisation: The Coaching intervention delivers a clearly identifiable Return on Investment in the form of a motivated, positive individual who supports the growth and success of the organisation.

The objectives we aspire to for those we coach are for them to:

Develop an understanding of their strengths and their potential; develop a clear purpose within their organisation and align this with their own goals and aspirations, remove any perceived barriers; build confidence  in their ability to exceed their own expectations; unlock their passion;  realise their power; take action that transforms their lives; become motivated and inspired and see this ‘infecting’ their organisation

TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHING: is about changing lives, there is a high level of focus on results. The Transformational Model© is based on our belief that we all have great power and abilities within us and that we each have our own unique talents. If we can learn to appreciate our talents and work with them, it will give us the courage to access our power and to make the necessary changes that will lead to a fulfilled life and a feeling of well-being. This in turn drives improved performance to support organisational excellence and growth.

This is a structured coaching journey in that there is a clear beginning, middle and end. In our coaching sessions we use elements of a variety of disciplines including Gestalt coaching, Solutions focused coaching; Co-active coaching; NLP; Life coaching; Kolb’s learning preferences; Life blue-print coaching and Positive Psychology.

Transitional Coaching

If a lasting and profound change is to occur the coachee will need determination, discipline and self belief, the executive coach will need to keep the client in a highly resourceful state, trust and empathy will be crucial. There will be considerable focus on the coachee’s strengths and abilities. The highest ethical standards will be maintained throughout the coaching journey

Delivering the Five P’s of the coaching journey

POTENTIAL:  understanding who we are, creating a vision of the possibilities and being given the support to realise these gives us the courage and motivation to step beyond our comfort zone

PURPOSE: having a clear purpose and being fully engaged in something meaningful is essential for our well-being.  Identifying this purpose, aligning it to where we are now and focusing on what steps we can take to make this happen are crucial to the success of our journey

PASSION: when we are in alignment with what we feel our purpose is, we have a clear view of where we’re headed and we love the picture - our passion, energy and enthusiasm is released to speed us on our journey – but doubts can overwhelm  us and our behaviour and beliefs can limit us, we often need support to deal with these and keep our passion alive.

POWER:  we must continually build the power of our vision. We must also understand and exercise our power to take responsibility for our lives and embed the changes we need to make in order to achieve transformation

PAUSE FOR REFLECTION: this is a common thread throughout the coaching, the coachee needs to be given time to think and there must be feedback and summarising from the coach. At the end of each one-to-one session the coachee will be asked to journal thoughts and themes identified. The coach will spend time following each session reflecting on the coaching session. A short overview of the session will be sent to the coachee.
